This was the scene the morning after my birthday last week. We went to this swimming pool in the middle of the desert mountains outside of Terlingua to celebrate the Fourth and then my birthday is the fifth so I like to just sneak it in with America’s Bday. We all got sunburnt and drank too much tequila and talked to the crazy locals that show up to cool down and then in the dark we went skinny dipping while the bats skimmed the pool and the stars were so fucking bright that the mountains stood black against them and echoed even at quiet things and dragging on a cigarette was the same thing as shining a flashlight.
